Nymex crude settles lower, short-term pullback seen

New York—May crude settled 53 cents lower at $80/barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange March 26, falling from a strong open as equity markets pulled back. Crude opened at $81.10/b and rose to $81.19/b, supported by equity market gains, but soon turned bearish. By midday, crude had slipped to an intra-day low of $79.54/b as equity markets lost steam.
