London-Greenpeace filed a claim November 12 in the High Court in London seeking a halt to the issue of new licenses for deepwater drilling in UK waters until the causes of BP's Gulf of Mexico blowout and spill have been officially established. In a statement, Greenpeace said lawyers acting for the environmental lobby group filed the claim to legally challenge the government decision to continue granting permits for deepwater drilling. It said a hearing on the matter is expected in the coming weeks.
