Insurer Munich Re, brokers partner for oil spill cover

London-Munich Re, the world's biggest rein- surer, has agreed to partner with three rein- surance brokers to develop coverage for deep- water drilling in US waters in the wake of BP's Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The move would significantly extend risk coverage for oil spills from deepwater drilling by pooling the resources of reinsurance firms to create a “sudden oil spill consortium,” according to Munich Re.
