Statoil increases stake in UK offshore heavy oil field

Copenhagen-Norway's Statoil has boosted its interest in the UK offshore with the purchase of an additional stake in its license containing the Mariner heavy oil field, it said September 23. Statoil said in a statement to the Oslo Bors it would pay GBP87.5 million ($136.8 million) to buy an additional 20.67% share in license P335 from the UK's Nautical Petroleum. This will boost Statoil's stake in the field to 65.1%, with Nautical retaining 6%.
