Noble loses out in major Israeli gas tender

Jerusalem-The Noble Energy-led consortium developing the large Tamar gas field offshore Israel was dealt a new blow December 11 as it lost out to Egyptian gas supplier EMG in a tender for the future supply of gas to compa- nies controlled by the Israel Corporation. The contract is for the initial supply of 1.4 billion cubic meters/year of gas for 20 years, with an option to be increased to 2.9 Bcm/year. The total value of the contracts with three companies controlled by Israel Cor- poration-Oil Refineries Limited, Israel Chemi- cals and OPC Rotem-is estimated at $5 bil- lion-$10 billion with supplies scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2011.
