Washington-EOG Resources has agreed to pay the largest fine ever levied on an energy producer in Pennsylvania after a state investigation found that EOG failed to properly control a gas well before a June 3 blowout in Clearfield County, the state’s top environmental regulator said July 13. EOG will pay $353,400 and take a series of corrective actions after its Punxsutawney Hunting Club 36H well suffered a 16-hour blowout that spewed an estimated 35,000 gallons of drilling fluids and wastewater 75 feet into the air and into nearby streams.
