Shell says close to deal on renewal of Nigerian license

Lagos-Shell said January 20 negotiations with Nigeria on the renewal of its oil licenses were progressing and that it was hopeful they would soon be completed. The company is in talks with the Nigerian government for the renewal of five of its shallow water oil leases in the Niger Delta-OMLs 71, 72, 74, 77 and 79-which expired in November 2008.
