Vedanta in talks to buy Cairn India stake

London-UK-listed metals and mining company Vedanta Resources said August 12 it is in talks for the possible acquisition of an interest in Cairn India, the main oil producing subsidiary of the UK’s Cairn Energy. “Discussions are ongoing and there can be no certainty the contemplated acquisition will occur or of the terms of any such acquisition,” the India-focused metal producer said in a statement.
