UK's Desire gives up on sidetrack well off Falklands

London-UK-based explorer Desire Petroleum is to plug and abandon its latest, closely watched exploration well off the Falkland Islands due to the mechanical failure of the well bore, the company said November 2. Desire said it would not be possible to obtain any wireline logging data from the well, a sidetrack to the Rachel prospect, because of the failure.
