Italy's Eni trims production targets, pledges cost cuts

London-Italian oil and gas group Eni lowered its production growth targets March 12, reflecting mainly recession-related project delays but promised more cost savings to bolster earnings as its refining business suffers.Announcing its latest four-year strategic plan, Eni said it plans to increase oil and gas production by an average of 2.5%/year over the period 2010-2013 and expects to maintain an average annual rate of more than 2% up to 2016.
