S-Oil Q1 profit falls 23.4% on poor refining margins

Singapore—South Korean refiner S-Oil April 23 posted a net profit of Won 104.2 billion ($938.7 million) in the January-March quarter, down 23.4% from Won 136.1 billion a year ago led by lower refining margins and maintenance costs. Operating profit, a reflection of the state of the company’s business, plunged 87.4% to Won 45.1 billion in the first quarter of 2010.
