UK to extend tax breaks to West of Shetland

London-The UK government plans to extend its tax incentives on some offshore developments to include remote gas fields on the frontier West of Shetland area, the country's finance minister Alistair Darling said January 27. The tax breaks will lower the cost of tapping remote, deepwater gas fields, potentially benefiting French Total's planned Laggan and Tormore gas field developments by up to GBP320 million ($515 million), the government said.
