Australia’s Karoon Gas farms into Brazilian blocks

Melbourne, Australia-Australian junior explorer Karoon Gas has signed a farm-in agreement with Petrobras to acquire a 20% interest in two offshore blocks in Brazil’s Santos Basin, the company said August 30. Karoon will earn its stakes in the Petrobras- operated Maruja or BM-S-41/S-M 1352 block and Quasi or BM-S-41/S-M 1354 block by funding 35% of a well at Maruja that is part of a two-well drilling program. Karoon will subsequently pay 20% of continued work and reimburse Petrobras for sunk costs, the company added.
