Standard & Poor's debuts commodities index with only contracts trading outside US

New York-Standard & Poor's launched May 5 a new international commodities index that it billed as "the first to consist solely of listed commodity futures contracts that trade outside of the US," the company said. Called the S&P World Commodity Index, the index "includes 22 commodities covering the agriculture, energy and metals sectors, listed on eight international exchanges and traded in six currencies in Asia, Europe, and North America," S&P said in a statement.
