Brazil's Unica threatens WTO action on US ethanol tariff

New York-The Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (Unica) has threatened to file a complaint with the World Trade Organization if the US approves legislation doubling the dif- ferential between the US ethanol blender's credit and the import tariff. Current tax negotiations in Washington include a possible lowering of the US ethanol blender's credit to 36 cents/gal, from the cur- rent 45 cents/gal, while leaving the import tariff unchanged at 54 cents/gal.
