Washington-Swarms of microbes in the Gulf of Mexico may have devoured a large oil plume that spewed from BP’s Macondo well, but that doesn’t mean the risk of environmental damage to the Gulf ecosystem and marine life is past, according to the lead author of a study that reported the presence of the oildegrading bacteria.
