Tokyo-Japanese refiners Cosmo Oil and Showa Shell have separately decided to extend their crude run cuts through first-quarter 2010 in response to prolonged weak domestic demand for oil products, company officials said January 5. Cosmo Oil will cut crude throughput by 4.6% year on year to 7.225 million kl (45.44 million barrels or 522,343 b/d) in Q1, a company official said. The January-March volume represents an 82.3% operating rate based on Cosmo Oil's total installed capacity of 635,000 b/d from three refineries nationwide.
