Italy PM 'profiting' from Putin energy deals

London-Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlus- coni is believed to have received kickbacks from his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over a number of key energy deals between Italy and Russia in recent years, according to cables released by WikiLeaks. In the latest cables leaked December 2, US diplomats reported suspicions in January 2009 that "Berlusconi and his cronies are prof- iting personally and handsomely from many of the energy deals between Italy and Russia."
