Lagos-Shell’s Nigerian oil producing unit said August 15 there has been an upsurge in the last two weeks in sabotage attacks on its pipelines around Bonny in the southern Rivers state. Shell said that between August 1 and August 12 it recorded three separate sabotage incidents on its Cawthorne Channel- Bonny and Alakiri-Bonny pipelines, where suspected crude thieves drilled holes or inflicted hacksaw cuts to siphon oil.
