Vietnam oil companies lobby for import costs cut

Singapore—Vietnam’s oil product companies have been lobbying the government to reduce the burden of high import costs but have so far met with no success, industry sources said late March 25. The Ministry of Finance March 22 imposed a freeze on the retail prices of all oil products until March 31, in an attempt to curb inflation (ON 3/25). In addition, the interval period between price adjustments has been extended to 20-30 days, compared with the current minimum period of 10 days.
