Japan to drill for gas hydrates 2011-2012

Tokyo-Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry plans to start drilling a series of wildcat wells to explore methane hydrates in Japanese waters beginning in 2011, a senior METI source said August 30. The drilling program will be conducted during the fiscal year that begins April 1.
