US, BP teams taking time in planning next move on Macondo well

Houston-With BP’s blown-out Macondo exploration well effectively plugged since July 15, the company and the US government were taking extra time August 16 to study their next steps in finalizing a permanent end to the crisis. That end will definitely involve completion of a relief well to intercept the original Macondo wellbore at the field’s reservoir 13,000 beneath the floor of the Gulf of Mexico (ON 8/16).
