API sees disconnect in US product demand

Washington-The split nature of the US economy was evidenced by motor gasoline deliveries falling 0.5% year on year in June-the second monthly decline in gasoline deliveries- while distillate demand improved in June and in the first half of the year. That finding, released July 23 by the American Petroleum Institute, paints a muddled picture of US economic prospects this summer, API Chief Economist John Felmy said.
