NYMEX crude slips 3 cents as equities fall, dollar gains

New York-New York Mercantile Exchange March crude settled 3 cents lower at $73.64/barrel January 28 with another down day in US equity markets and a firmer tone to the dollar setting a bearish tone. At the close of NYMEX open outcry trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down about 98 points after suffering tripledigit losses earlier in the day. The US Dollar Index on ICE was up 22.7 points at 78.902, closer to the intra-session high than low.
