CNPC to build 10 gas storage sites by 2015

Hong Kong-Chinese state oil giant China National Petroleum Corporation plans to build 10 natural gas storage facilities between 2011 and 2015 to stockpile the fuel in the face of rising demand, Chinese newspaper 21st Century Business Herald reported February 25.The facilities will have a combined capacity to supply 22.4 billion cubic meters of "working volume," CNPC Vice President Liao Yongyuan was quoted as saying. The storage projects would be located in places that are either major gas producing or consuming areas, including China's northwestern Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and northern provinces.
