NYMEX crude, products up on weak dollar, technicals

New York-New York Mercantile Exchange October crude oil futures settled 86 cents higher at $73.36/barrel August 26, lifted by renewed weakness in the dollar and technical considerations. NYMEX September heating oil settled 3.86 cents higher at $2.0092/gal, while September RBOB settled at $1.9085/gal, up 4.46 cents. The US Dollar Index on ICE was under pressure throughout the session as risk appetite appeared to be on again. Equities had an erratic performance, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 each ending the day in the red.
