Gastar, South Korea's Atinum in Marcellus Shale JV

New York-Gastar Exploration has signed a joint venture agreement with an affiliate of South Korean investment company Atinum Partners for an initial 21.43% interest in all of its existing Marcellus Shale assets in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, the Houston-based independent producer said September 22. The deal, which Gastar valued at $70 million, involves around 34,200 net acres, and “certain producing shallow conventional wells.”
