US EPA adds oil, gas sector to GHG proposal

Washington—The Obama administration March 23 proposed to expand the scope of its controversial greenhouse gas reporting rule to the US oil and gas sector. The proposal, announced by Lisa Jackson, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, is the latest development in the administration’s efforts to implement the first hard caps on GHG emissions from oil refineries, gas plants and a whole host of other energy-related facilities.
