Tight water supplies may limit oil shale

New York-Oil shale development in the US western states of Colorado and Utah could require from one to as many as 12 barrels of water for every barrel of oil produced, and integrateds such as ExxonMobil and Shell are seen trying to sew up water rights, the US Government Accountability Office said in a report that predicts tight water supplies could constrain oil production.
