Newfield Exploration makes $223 million bid for TXCO assets

Washington-Newfield Exploration has offered to pay $223 million for most of the assets of bankrupt TXCO Resources, according to a filing November 9 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Houston-based Newfield struck the tentative deal November 6 with San Antonio-based TXCO, the filing said. Included in the proposed deal are 630,000 net acres in South Texas' Maverick Basin with exposure to the Eagle Ford Shale.
