Indian panel recommends end to gasoline subsidies

Mumbai, India-India should end state subsidies of gasoline and gasoil and instead allow the market to set price levels, a government-appointed panel said in a report February 10. The panel, headed by Kirit Parikh, a former member of the planning commission, said the price of gasoline should be liberalized both at the refinery gate and on the forecourt.
