London-An OPEC crude production quota for Iraq is some four or five years away, the oil producer club's secretary general, Abdalla el-Badri, said February 1.Iraqi oil minister Hussein al-Shahristani has flagged the potential for Baghdad, which has signed major oil field development agreements with a host of international oil companies, to boost capacity to above 12 million b/d before the end of the decade from current levels of around 2.5 million b/d (see story, p. 5).
