UK's Tullow inks deal to buy Uganda assets

London-UK-based Tullow Oil has signed an agreement to buy out its partner Heritage Oil in two adjacent oil blocks in Uganda's oil-rich Lake Albert region, preempting a $1.5 billion deal struck by Italy's Eni, Tullow said January 26. In a statement, Tullow said its agreement with Heritage requires the approval of the Ugandan government as it vies with Eni for control over the development of one of the biggest African oil finds in years.
