Shell joins Iberdrola-led UK CCS project

London-Anglo-Dutch oil major Shell and the UK high-voltage power grid and gas transmission operator National Grid have joined a project led by Spain's Iberdrola to develop a carbon capture and storage demonstration plant in the UK, Iberdrola said August 13. Iberdrola's UK subsidiary Scottish Power is hoping to develop a post-combustion CCS project at its 2.4 GW Longannet coal-fired power plant in eastern Scotland.
