Sydney-Anglo-Australian resources giant BHP Billiton has recorded a 25.5% fall in earnings from its petroleum division to $4.09 billion for the financial year ended June 30, 2009, mainly due to lower realized prices, the company said August 12. The result was down from underlying earnings before interest and tax of $5.49 billion in the year ended June 2008. The petroleum division's revenue for the year came in at $7.2 billion, down 14% from 2008's $8.4 billion, despite record production.
