New Delhi—The Indian government April 9 launched its largest-ever oil and gas licensing round, inviting domestic and global companies to bid for a total of 70 offshore and onshore exploration blocks.The eighth round of the New Exploration Licensing Policy, or NELP-VIII, includes 24 deepwater blocks, 28 areas in shallow water and 18 onshore blocks, R.S. Pandey, secretary in the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, told reporters.
