Gas and trading boost StatoilHydro profits

London-Norway's StatoilHydro May 11 reported better-than-expected profits in the first quarter of this year, boosted by strong results from its oil and gas trading and an increase in earnings from the natural gas division.Pre-tax earnings fell to NOK36 billion ($5.6 billion), down from NOK51.5 billion in the first quarter of 2008 but ahead of the figure of around NOK30 billion analysts had been expecting.
