Indian LNG demand drops, imports slide in November

Singapore-India imported just 499,000 mt of LNG in November, down nearly 42% from October purchases and 18.5% below the corresponding month of 2007, based on provisional government figures, reflecting slowing demand for the industrial feedstock and widespread replacement by relatively cheaper naphtha. Term and spot LNG imports over April- November, the first eight months of fiscal 2008-09, totaled 5.374 million mt, only a little higher than the 5.322 million mt bought in the corresponding period of 2007, data from the oil ministry showed.
