OPEC cuts 2009 global oil demand forecast

London-OPEC May 13 further cut its forecast of world oil demand for 2009, warning that the global recession could drag on despite early signs of an economic recovery in some markets.The oil producers' club said oil market fundamentals were still unbalanced due to the continuing contraction in demand and a growing supply overhang, attributing the fact that prices were being sustained above $50/barrel to market sentiment rather than to any improvement in fundamentals of supply and demand.
