NYMEX reverses prior day's data-led fall

New York-New York Mercantile Exchange November crude rallied $2.12 to settle at $71.69/barrel October 8-more than wiping out the prior day's losses-on US dollar weakness and a rise in equities. Products gained as well, with NYMEX November heating oil settling 6.58 cents higher at $1.8469/gal and RBOB rising 5.94 cents to settle at $1.7797/gal. At the time of the close of NYMEX open outcry, the S&P 500 was around 10 points higher, while the US dollar index on ICE was roughly 50 points lower.
