NYMEX crude plunges almost $6 on Cushing stock build

New York-New York Mercantile Exchange February crude futures tumbled $5.95 to settle at $42.63/barrel January 7, after the US Energy Information Administration reported a 4.1 million barrel inventory build at Cushing, Oklahoma, the contract delivery point. Losses were widespread across the petroleum sector. NYMEX February heating oil settled 8.32 cents lower at $1.5431/gal and February RBOB dropped 11.28 cents to settle at $1.0764/gal.
