Producers face curtailments as US natural gas stocks rise

Washington-US natural gas producers likely will be "squeezed out of the market" as infrastructure-related constraints cause involuntary production curtailments in the next few months, Barclays Capital analysts said. "With [storage] inventories of [562 Bcf] above last year's levels, and 10 more weeks to the end of injection season, the outlook for US natural gas storage in the next few months is quickly approaching a train wreck," Barclays analysts James Crandell, Biliana Pehlivanova and Michael Zenker said in a research report issued August 25.
