Eni suspends work on Alaska North Slope project

Anchorage—Eni Oil and Gas has ordered a shutdown of drilling and other operations at its Nikaitchuq oil field project off Alaska’s North Slope, a state official and contractors working with the company said March 2.Kurt Gibson, deputy director of Alaska’s Division of Oil and Gas, said Eni executives met with the division on February 26 to brief officials there on the company’s decision. According to Gibson, the company said it was delaying the project with hopes of resuming work next winter.
