London-UK producer Venture Production, currently under siege from Centrica's hostile takeover bid, August 19 reported first-half net profit that was largely stable compared with the previous year. Net profit in the period was GBP54.1 million ($88.9 million), down 1% from GBP54.7 million in H1 2008, while its revenues in the period grew by 14% to GBP274.7 million thanks to higher production volumes. Production amounted to 52,988 b/d of oil equivalent, up 16% compared with the first half of 2008.
