China’s CNOOC lifts 2008 net profit by 42% as output grows 14%

Hong Kong—Offshore producer CNOOC Limited of China reported March 31 a 42% jump in net profit in 2008 to Yuan 44.75 billion (about $6.5 billion) on the back of strong production growth and higher realized oil prices.The company produced 194.2 million barrels of oil equivalent of crude oil and natural gas last year, up 14.3% from a year ago.
