EPA to rethink cancer risk in emissions rule; Regulation was issued in last days of Bush administration

Washington-The US Environmental Protection Agency will reconsider its analysis of the cancer risks posed by refinery emissions included in a rule issued in the waning days of the Bush administration, the agency said July 2. The review could lead to additional costly control requirements for benzene and other cancer-causing emissions. Any such decision and possible new rulemaking is probably months away.
