Lagos-Soldiers foiled a bid on January 23 by armed militants to hijack an oil vessel off the coast of Nigeria's Niger Delta, the Joint Task Force said."Today, some gunmen in speedboats carried out an attack on a vessel in offshore," JTF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa told Platts by phone from Port Harcourt. "Soldiers were able to abort it." He said further details would be given later, but did not specify when.
