PetroChina buys 60% of Athabasca Oil Sands

Vancouver-China has made its boldest move yet into Canada's oil sands, with PetroChina agreeing to pay C$1.9 billion ($1.73 billion) for 60% of privately-held Athabasca Oil Sands Corporation, more than four years after two other state-owned companies, CNOOC and Sinopec, acquired minority stakes in separate upstream ventures.
