Virginia presses Interior for offshore sale

Washington-Virginia Governor-elect Robert McDonnell is pressing Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to move forward with an oil and gas lease sale off the Virginia coast in 2011. McDonnell, a Republican, said in a letter released December 29 that Interior's Minerals Management Service should not delay the proposed sale, which he said would help create jobs and generate revenue for the state. McDonnell is scheduled to take office January 16.
