Sydney-Australian exploration and production company Santos February 19 posted a 42% rise in underlying profit after tax to A$572 million ($367 million) for 2008.Santos' net profit for the year was a record A$1.7 billion, boosted by a one-off A$1.2 billion profit from the sale of a 40% stake in its Gladstone LNG project to Malaysian state-owned oil and gas company Petronas.
